BALTIMORE, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - Despite signs of improvement and a gritty game three victory, the Lafayette women's volleyball team succumbed to Loyola 3-1 (30-17, 30-19, 25-30 and 30-23) in Saturday's match.
The Leopards, who dropped to 1-10 on the season, got 34 assists and 13 digs from sophomore setter Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove).
Lafayette took game three by posting a .191 team hitting percentage, the team's highest on the day.
Junior Maria Kinzel (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) aided the Leopards' defense with a team-high 18 digs, and Caroline Eshman (Bethesda, Md./ Walter Johnson) led the offense with 10 kills.
Three players who recorded double-digit kills, and setter Krystal Biegal who tallied 57 assists led Loyola (5-6).
The Leopards make their debut in Kirby Sports Center on Tuesday evening against Binghamton.
