LIGONIER, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's golf team shaved five strokes off its first round total to shoot a final round 313 and finish ninth at the Duquesne Invitational on Monday. The two-day event was held at the par-71 Champion Lakes Golf Club in Ligonier, Pa.
Jeremiah O'Neill, whose opening round 74 placed him fifth after day one, shot a final round 78 to finish with a 152 and in a five-way tie for 10th place. Bradley Rock (77-78-155) carded a 78 on Monday, good enough to place him in a tie for 18th.
Michael Aarts (85-78-163) tied for 38th and Joshua Shepard (85-79-164) and Thomas Hennessy (82-82-164) tied for 40th place in the 54-golfer field.
The Leopards shot a 631 as a team and place ninth in the 10-team field. St. Bonaventure took home the team title with a score of 604, beating Loyola College by three strokes. St. Bonaventure was led by two golfers in the top three, including the individual medalist Jay Lindell who shot a one-under-par 141 (72-69).
Lafayette returns to action on Saturday at the ECAC Tournament.
