LIGONIER, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's golf team is in eighth place with a team score of 318 after the first day of the Duquesne Invitational at Champion Lakes Golf Club.
Jeremiah O'Neill shot an opening round 74 to lead the Leopards on Sunday. O'Neill carded a 38 on the front nine and a 36 on the back to place fifth after the first 18 holes.
Bradley Rock posted a 77 on the par-71 course in Ligonier, Pa. He sits tied for 17th in the 54-golfer field. Thomas Hennessy is tied for 33rd (82), followed by Michael Aarts and Joshua Shepard who are tied for 44th after a round of 85.
Loyola College and Robert Morris are tied for the tournament lead with team scores of 303. The individual leader after the first day was St. Bonaventure's Jay Lindell who carded a one-over-par 72.
Lafayette completes the tournament on Monday.
