LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette opened the Rider Classic with a first round loss to Wofford in three games 30-27, 30-23 and 30-17.
The Leopards' struggled to a .133 team hitting percentage, and dropped to 0-4 on the season.
Sophomore Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) led the Leopards attack with 24 assists and 12 digs.
Senior Sarah Deitsch (Norwood, N.J./ Norwood) chipped in with a team-high 17 digs, and junior Maria Kinzel (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) added 10 digs and seven kills.
Molly Bushong dished 33 assists, and Wofford got 12 digs from Katie Laser and Currie Gossett to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Play continues Saturday in the Rider Classic, with the Lafayette taking on La Salle at 12 noon, and host Rider at 2 p.m.
