Lafayette Golf Team Places Sixth at Don Mershon Classic

TELFORD, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Michael Aarts (Pound Ridge, N.Y) shot a 77 on the second day of play to finish seventh overall, leading the Leopards to a sixth place finish at Lehigh's Don Mershon Classic held at Indian Valley Country Club on Sunday and Monday.

Lehigh took the team title with a two-day score of 618. The Mountain Hawks Nam Kyu Park was first overall shooting a 72 on day one and a 77 on day two.

Lafayette's Jeremiah O'Neill (North Andover, Ma.) finished with a two-day score of 156, putting him in a tie for 11th overall. Garett Copp (Mechanic Falls, Me.) finished tied for 30th, while Paul Burke (Andover, Ma.) was tied for 42nd. The final finisher for the Leopards was senior Bradley Rock, finishing tied for 64th individually.

Siena College, Fordham University, Drexel University, and the University of Delaware rounded out the top five teams.

The Lafayette golf team will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 16 and Saturday Oct. 18 at the Hofstra Invitational.
