EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Sophomore Brett Warren's (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) three-set win at second singles was the difference-maker in Lafayette's 4-3 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday at Sullivan Courts.
Lafayette remains unbeaten in dual matches over the past three fall seasons, boasting a 20-0 record in that span.
The Leopards (7-0) faced their toughest test of the season, splitting the singles matches and taking two of three doubles pairings to earn their four points.
While Devin Murphy (Buxton, Md./Boys Latin School) and Jeremy Fehrs (Huntington Station, N.Y./Huntington) cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, Warren's duel with Daniel Wynne was the final singles match to be completed and ultimately decided the match.
Wynne won the first set, 7-6(4), before Warren stormed back to take the final two by scores of 7-5, 6-3.
Warren and Craig Helstowski (Shrewsbury, Mass./Saint John) were 8-4 winners at second doubles, while Murphy and Brian Schubert (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) picked up an 8-0 win at third doubles.
Lafayette opens the spring season on March 11 at Delaware at 3 p.m.
