Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw with Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie at Army in a Patriot League contest on Friday.

Senior forward Marko Lukin (Boontown, N.J./Morris Catholic) put the Leopards up early with a goal just 5:40 into the match. Lukin fired from the right side of the net into the top left corner. That lead held until Army netted the equalizer at the 54:30 mark.

Both teams had opportunities to win the match in overtime, but the keepers turned away every shot. Army held a 23-17 edge in shots for the match, including a 4-3 advantage in overtime.

Senior goalkeeper Jay Freedman (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow East) made seven saves to preserve the tie. Matt Wesmiller tallied five saves for the Black Knights.

Lafayette (6-2-2 overall, 1-0-1 Patriot League) returns to action on Tuesday, visiting Oneonta for a non-conference match at 4 p.m.
