Stephen Bono Named to I-AA Academic All-Star Team

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette junior offensive lineman Stephen Bono (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) has been named to the I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team.

Bono carries a 3.75 grade-point average in Civil Engineering. He earned the starting spot at right guard midway through his freshman season and has started every game since. A three-year letterman, Bono was named the 2003-04 Maroon Club Scholar Athlete Award winner and is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District II selection.

Thirty-one student-athletes were named to the team from 93 nominations. Nominees must hold at least a 3.20 grade-point average, be a starter or key player who has participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games and have reached their second year of athletic and academic standing at the nominating institution.

Bono has played on units that helped the Leopards finish first in the Patriot League in total offense in 2003 and second in passing offense and sacks allowed in 2002.
