MADISON, N.J. - The Lafayette fencing team lost four meets in a five-team competition at Drew University on Saturday. The Leopards fell to Drew (23-4), Army (20-7), New Jersey Institute of Technology (19-8) and Stevens Tech (17-10).
Lafayette won the sabre against Army by a 5-4 mark and the foil versus Stevens also by a 5-4 score. The Leopards battled hard and lost 6-3 in three different events.
Tom Gauntner led the Leopards with a 6-3 record in the sabre, including a 3-0 performance against Army. Mathew Ingraham finished 5-3 in the foil with a 2-0 record versus Stevens.
Lafayette (3-7) hosts Cornell, St. John's and Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kirby Sports Center.
