Lafayette Football Practices in Full Pads for First Time

Aug. 15, 2003

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette football team worked out in full pads for the first time Friday morning.

The Leopards, who had been practicing from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., held Friday's session at 7 a.m. The squad will return to the practice field at 8:15 a.m. Saturday for the first of two practices. Sunday will feature a single practice, while Monday will be the Leopards' second double session. The squad also continues with daily team and positional meetings.

"I just felt that with the long hours we've been putting in in the heat, it would be a good idea to go earlier today and give the guys a chance to rest before we get into two-a-days on Saturday," said head coach Frank Tavani.

Lafayette opens the 2003 season at home against Marist on Sept. 6. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Fisher Field.

INJURY UPDATE:
Gus Ottoson - out indefinitely with a knee injury
Casey McKeen - out 3-4 weeks with a partially torn pectoral muscle
