TELFORD, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Junior Mike Aarts posted a two-day total of 151 to finish in sixth place at the Don Mershon Classic, held Sunday and Monday at the Indian Valley Country Club.
Aarts' first-day score of 74 put him three shots off the lead heading into play on Monday. He shot a 77 on a tougher scoring day for most of the leader board and finished four shots off the pace and alone in sixth at seven-over par.
Senior Garett Copp tied for 29th with a 14-over par 158 in the field of 75 that finished the event. Sophomore Kyle Manjuck (171), senior Jeremiah O'Neill (174) and freshman Christopher Johnson (177) also competed for Lafayette.
As a team, the Leopards finished 13th of the 17 squads that entered the event.
Lafayette will play its final tournament of the fall this weekend at the Hofstra Fall Invitational, to be held at the Bethpage State Park Red Course on Oct. 14-16.
