EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette used a balanced team effort from every player on the roster to down St. Francis (N.Y.), 3-0, on Wednesday night to improve to 13-11 on the season.
The Leopards hit .270 for the match and won by scores of 30-16, 30-24, and 30-13.
Sophomore Veronica Canto-Ponce (10 kills, 11 digs) and freshman Michaela Donohue (10 kills, 16 digs) both turned in double-doubles for Lafayette. Sophomore Meagan Martino had eight kills on 15 error-free attacks and contributed three blocks.
Senior Heidi Olichwier and sophomore Katie Moore combined for 32 of the Leopards' 39 assists at the setter spot. Olichwier and freshman Lauren Dalsky each recorded 10 digs.
Canto-Ponce had four of Lafayette's 12 aces, while Donohue and Olichwier notched three each. St. Francis did not have an ace in the match.
Lafayette hit .378, with 15 kills and one error, in the first game, and posted a .333 attack percentage in the third.
Esther Lima and Lydia Ann Harris led the Terriers with eight kills apiece.
Lafayette, which is in a three-way tie for the fourth and final Patriot League playoff spot, will host Holy Cross on Friday at 7 p.m. and Army on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Kirby Sports Center.
