BALTIMORE, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - A 9-0 sweep of the foil by sophomore Brendan O'Dea led Lafayette's fencing team to a 2-1 showing on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Johns Hopkins.
The Leopards posted wins over Virginia Tech (16-13) and Virginia (18-9), and fell 17-10 to William and Mary.
The epee squad went 8-1 versus Virginia Tech, as junior Andrew Kopelman and sophomore Robert Boguski were 3-0 and Dave Watrous won a 2-1 decision.
The foil and epee events each dominated Virginia. Junior team captain Mat Ingraham, junior foil squad captain Mark Lodato, and O'Dea were 8-1 in the foil. Kopelman's 3-0 win gave Lafayette a 7-2 margin in the epee.
