EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - An undefeated showing by the epee squad led Lafayette's fencing team to a 3-1 day at Kirby Sports Center on Sunday. The Leopards defeated Cornell, St. John's College and Yeshiva University, and fell to Johns Hopkins.
Lafayette opened the action against Yeshiva University, where a 9-0 performance in the foil highlighted a 21-6 victory.
With the score knotted at 13-13 going into the final bout versus Cornell, Brendan O'Dea (foil) subdued his opponent to earn the 14-13 decision for the Leopards.
Lafayette used a 6-3 advantage in the sabre to carry the team to a 15-12 win over St. John's College.
In the final match-up of the day, Johns Hopkins rolled to a 20-7 win.
Robert Boguski, Joseph Howell, Andrew Kopelman, Nate Landis and O'Dea all had winning records for the Leopards.
