EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette head football coach Frank Tavani has announced the addition of Brett Gordon to the Leopard football coaching staff.
Gordon, a 2002 graduate of Villanova, will coach the Leopard receivers.
"We're extremely pleased to have Brett join our staff," Tavani said. "He has proven himself as both an outstanding athlete and person and I think the opportunity our student-athletes have to learn from him is a fantastic one. He has been successful throughout his career and he's a winner."
Gordon was a three-year starter at quarterback for Villanova, earning All-Atlantic 10 honors each season. As a senior, Gordon finished runner-up in voting for the Walter Payton Award, given annually to the top player in NCAA Division I-AA, and claimed Atlantic 10 and ECAC Offensive Player of the Year honors. A two-time team captain, Gordon also garnered All-America accolades in his final season. Gordon concluded his career with 9,639 yards passing and 83 touchdowns.
Gordon spent last season coaching quarterbacks at Villanova. He also oversees the Brett Gordon Quarterback Academy, a summer clinic for quarterbacks in grades 5-12 that covers all aspects of quarterback play.
Lafayette opens the 2004 season at home against Marist on Sept. 4. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Fisher Field.
