HAMILTON, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) -The Lafayette men's golf team finished sixth overall at the Patriot League Championships hosted by Colgate, held at the Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton, N.Y.
The Leopards finished with a team scored of 970 for the weekend. Junior Jeremiah O'Neill was the top finisher for Lafayette, ending the weekend tied for 17th with a score of 239.
Senior Derek Downing finished 21st overall with a three round score of 242 while fellow senior Bradley Rock ended the tournament tied for 23rd, shooting 244 for the weekend.
Junior Garrett Copp ended 26th overall with a score of 246 while freshman Paul Burke tied for 36th with 254. Freshman David Rahal rounded out the Lafayette golfers, placing 42nd with a total of 261.
Army claimed the team title with a score of 930. Lehigh (943) was second overall in the team standings while Navy (944), Bucknell (946) and American (952) rounded out the top five. Colgate (980) finished seventh while Holy Cross (1013) finished eighth overall.
Navy's Billy Hurley claimed the individual title with a total of 223. Army's D.J. Reeves was second while fellow Black Knight Scott Manley tied with Holy Cross' Emmit Ferriter and Navy's Rob Stochel for third.
Army's Jimmy Ray Clevenger and Navy's Pat Owen were named co-winners of the 2004 Patriot League Golf Coach of the Year Award.
