CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -Keith Hendrickson was one of five players to shoot an on par 72 to lead the Binghamton golf team to a score of 296, putting the Bearcats at the top of the leaderboard after the first day of the Lafayette Golf Invitational held at the Center Valley Golf Club.
Lafayette, who finished 16th as a team with a score of 316, was led by senior Bradley Rock, who shot a five over 77 on the day. The Leopards' Derek Downing followed with a 78 while Michael Aarts finished with a 79 after the first round. Jeremiah O'Neill and Paul Burke rounded out the Lafayette scorers with rounds of 82 and 83 respectively.
Gabe Allen of Fordham, Eric Couture of St. Francis, Rob Krajewski of Canisius and Chris Scheiffer of American all finished tied with Hendrickson for first with scores of 72. Five players followed at one over, while nine golfers were tied at two over for the day.
American finished second, one shot behind Binghamton with a score of 297. Fordham (300), Bucknell (303) and Siena (304) rounded out the top five teams.
The second day of the Third Annual Lafayette Invitational will begin with a shotgun start on April 10 at 8 a.m.
