ITHACA, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette junior Mike Aarts shot a four-over par 220 to tie for eighth out of 79 golfers at the Cornell Invitational this weekend. The 54-hole event was held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Ithaca, N.Y.

Aarts, who won the Colgate Invitational two weeks ago, was at even par after the 36-hole opening day on Saturday, with consecutive rounds of 72. His final-round 76 put him in a tie for eighth place with Chris Agostinelli from Niagra, as scoring conditions were noticeably more difficult on Sunday.

Josh Krumholz from Rider was the runaway winner with an eight-under par 208 after starting the event with rounds of 67 and 68.

Senior Garrett Copp (231), freshman Brandon Mitchel (234), and senior Jeremiah O'Neill (235) each shot between 76 and 80 in each of their rounds. Copp tied for 38th place. Sophomore Billy Simmermacher rounded out Lafayette's group with a 243.

The Leopards team finished 12th of 16 teams.
