Hurt Rumbles to Offensive Player of the Week Honors

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette junior tailback Jonathan Hurt (Orlando, Fla./Boone) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after running for a career-high 149 yards and two touchdowns in the Leopards' 14-7 win over Columbia on Saturday.

Hurt, who went over 100 yards for the first time in his career, had 29 carries as part of an offensive attack that rolled up 231 rushing yards on 64 attempts on a muddy track. He also had his third multi-touchdown game of the season, after scoring three times each in wins against Marist and Fordham. His previous career-high of 97 yards came on 13 carries in the season opener at Marist.

The third-leading rusher in the Patriot League with 79.7 yards per game, Hurt has 96 rushes for 478 yards and eight touchdowns through six games this season. He had 362 yards and five touchdowns while playing behind Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year Joe McCourt in 2004.

Lafayette, 5-1 overall and on top of the league standings at 2-0, will host Harvard on Saturday at 1 p.m.
