WEST ORANGE, N.J. - For the first time this season, the Lafayette men's golf team brought home a first-place finish, as the Leopards posted an overall score of 318 at a quad match hosted by St. Peter's on Tuesday.
Following Lafayette was Fairleigh Dickinson (329), Manhattan (339) and St. Peter's (343).
Sophomore Chris Johnston was the low man for Lafayette and tied for the match leader with a round of 78 at The Rock Spring Club in West Orange, N.J. One stroke behind, classmate Brandon Mitchel finished the day in second with a 79. Following Mitchel, freshman Anoop Shah turned in an 80.
Also earning points for Lafayette were rookie Kenneth Suarez and senior Tom Palmer, shooting 81 and 82, respectively.
Lafayette returns to action at the St. Mary's Fall Invitational beginning on Saturday at Quail Valley in Littlestown, Pa.
