Nov. 14, 2005

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette junior kicker Rick Ziska has been named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week for his outing on Saturday in the Leopards' 41-21 win at Holy Cross.

Ziska made two field goals in the last 1:10 of the first half, including a career-long 51-yard field goal that set Lafayette's modern-day school record on the final play of the half.

He also made a 23-yard field goal that gave the Leopards a 24-14 lead, and hit all five of his extra point attempts.

Ziska shared the previous modern-day record of 48 yards with Frank Grube, who used a drop kick to convert from that distance in 1926. George McCaa made a 53-yard field goal in an 8-6 win over Brown in 1908. Ziska connected from 48 yards in Lafayette's 17-6 win at Georgetown a year ago.
