Air Force Downs Lafayette Men's Lacrosse, 11-6

DENVER, Colo. (www.lafayette.edu) - Air Force scored four straight goals in a span of 2:45 in the fourth quarter on its way to an 11-6 win over Lafayette in men's lacrosse action on Sunday.

The Falcons led a defensive affair 5-4 heading into the fourth quarter, then out-scored Lafayette 6-2 over the final 15 minutes.

Freshman Jon Paulson's third goal of the game pulled Lafayette within two, 7-5, with 11:09 remaining. Just 51 seconds later, Will Meister scored the final of his game-high four goals to ignite the Falcons' 4-0, game-clinching run.

Sophomore Bart Seifert put Lafayette in front, 1-0, just 2:59 into the contest. The score was evened at two before Air Force scored three straight to go in front, 5-2, early in the second quarter. Seifert's second goal made it 5-3 at halftime, while Paulson's second of three scores, the lone tally for either team in the third quarter, pulled the Leopards within 5-4.

Chris Rosa made 14 saves in goal for Lafayette, while Justin Pavoni made nine saves to earn the win for Air Force.

Meister added an assist to his four goals for the Falcons, while Justin Kuchta added three goals and two assists.

Air Force held a 40-28 edge in shots and was 24-of-25 in clears. The Falcons were 20-of-20 on clears over the final three quarters. Lafayette was 21-of-29 in clears, including 13-of-15 in the second half.

Lafayette hosts Villanova in the home opener at Rappolt Field on Saturday at 1 p.m.
