ANNAPOLIS, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette bettered its first-day scoring by 13 shots, and Jeremiah O'Neill finished seventh in a field of 104 competitors at the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
The event was held at the par-71, 6,556-yard U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md. Guilford College won the invitational by five strokes over George Washington, and Billy Mullen of Temple fired a 70 on both days to claim medalist honors with a two-under par 140.
O'Neill followed his round of 76 on Saturday with a 73 on Sunday, and was one of eight golfers tied for seventh place at 149. Brandon Mitchel shot a 75 on the second day and finished with a two-day total of 155.
Garett Copp had identical rounds of 79, while Dave Rahal and Billy Simmermacher rounded out the Leopards' competitors.
Lafayette finished 16th out of 20 schools.
