LEWISBURG, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Army won its ninth Patriot League men's golf championship in 15 years, and Charles Waddell of Bucknell equaled the three-round scoring record to win medalist honors on his home course at the Bucknell Golf Club this weekend.
Lafayette placed eighth, with senior Garett Copp recording the Leopards' low score at 227, good for a tie for 21st in the field of 47.
Waddell opened the championship with a 67, and followed with consecutive rounds of 71 for a total of 209. Teammate Ben Pellicani shot a 65 in the second round and was second at 210.
Army's top four golfers placed among the first eight, led by Scott Manley and Pete Phipps who checked in at four-over par with a score of 214. Austin Luher and Pat Beverly also contributed to the Black Knights' score of 860, which was seven strokes better than Bucknell.
