EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette freshman wide receiver Shaun Adair (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his performance in the Leopards' 27-10 win over Fordham in their league opener on Saturday.
Adair had two catches for 83 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown reception from Brad Maurer that put Lafayette ahead 14-10 early in the second quarter. He leads the team with 154 receiving yards on just four catches, each of which have resulted in first downs.
The freshman made his first career catch, a 25-yard gain, in week two vs. Richmond. He had a 46-yard catch the following week against Princeton, and also caught an 18-yard pass on third-and-13 last Saturday vs. Fordham.
Maurer spread his 18 completions around to 11 different receivers in the win over the Rams, and set career highs with 32 attempts and 222 passing yards.
Lafayette, 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Patriot League action, travels to Washington, D.C. to play Georgetown on Saturday, Oct. 1.
