EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette defeated St. Peter's, 6-1, in men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Courts. However, rain showers forced the match to move indoors at the Northwood Raquet Club.
Lafayette swept St. Peter's in doubles action and took five of six singles matches en route to the 6-1 triumph.
Juniors Paul Guarino and Brett Kraft teamed to take the No. 1 doubles set, 8-2. Freshman Matt McGranaghan and sophomore Lee Kojanis topped J.J. Gramaticu and Jake Baranowski of St. Peter's, 8-5. Rookies Eric Wiley and Steven Benezra completed the Leopards' run with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Guarino took a 6-0, 7-6 (2) decision in first singles, while Kraft won at No. 3, 6-3, 6-4. Wiley, Kojanis and Benezra all came away with wins to secure the Leopards' victory over the Peacocks.
Lafayette returns to Sullivan Courts on Oct. 14 as the team hosts St. Francis (Pa.) at noon.
