Lafayette Suffers Tough Sunday At Patriot League Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - After a solid opening-round showing on Saturday, the Lafayette golf team dropped to seventh in the final round of the Patriot League Championship at Navy's Academy Golf Course. Senior Tom Palmer turned in a top-10 finish with a 229 overall.

Lafayette managed its low-round on Sunday morning's second outing, as the Leopards posted a 311 on the par-71, 6,611-yard course. Lafayette surrounded its 311 with a pair of 317 rounds to finish at 945.

Palmer (79-75-75) was among three players to card a 229, while Bucknell's Charles Waddell ran away with the title at three-under-par. Waddell helped the Bison (896) to the team championship, winning the individual count by ten strokes. Army (898) and Navy (910) took second and third, respectively.

Playing in his first league championship, rookie Anoop Shah was the Leopards' second best finisher at 236 (78-73-85). Shah tied for 22nd, while junior Dave Rahal and sophomore Chris Johnston posted a 243 and 244, respectively.

The Leopards return to action at the Peacock Invitational on Tuesday afternoon before closing out the season at Monmouth's quad match on Wednesday.
