EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Bucknell's Charles Waddell was the medalist at the Lafayette Invitational on Saturday at the Center Valley Golf Club, while the Bison fell seven strokes short of Lehigh for the team title. Sunday's round will not be played due to impending inclement weather, which shortens Lafayette's home tournament to 18 holes in 2007.
Senior Dave Rahal led Lafayette with a five-over par 77 and finished in a tie for 12th in the field of 124 golfers. The Leopards' Maroon team placed 16th with a 329, led by senior Kyle Manjuck's 79, while the White team tied for 17th with a 333.
Junior Pat Kelly carded an 80, freshman Reed Valutas shot an 81 and sophomore Steven Melnic had an 82 for Lafayette. They were followed by Brandon Mitchel and Ken Suarez, who both shot an 84, and Matt Ehrlich who recorded an 85. Pat Gallagher (87), Billy Simmermacher (90) and Anoop Shah (90) also competed for the Leopards.
