LEWISBURG, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's top four golfers all placed in the top 25 at the Patriot League championships, held this weekend at the Bucknell University Golf Course in Lewisburg.
The Bison won the team championship by three strokes over Navy. Matt Czarnecki of Holy Cross used a second-round 68 to post a one-shot victory over Navy's Chris Renninger Czarnecki finished with a two-over par 212 for the weekend on the par-70, 6,385-yard layout.
The Leopards tied for sixth with Holy Cross with a three-day total of 913. Both schools were five shots behind Colgate. Army and Lehigh were third and fourth.
Senior Billy Simmermacher led Lafayette with a 227, firing rounds of 75, 77 and 75, to place in a tie for 16th. Classmate Kyle Manjuck shot an opening-round 73 and finished one shot behind Simmermacher in a tie for 19th.
Senior Dave Rahal and sophomore Matt Ehrlich carded matching scores of 229 over the three rounds and were two of four golfers who tied for 22nd.
Junior Brandon Mitchel placed 38th (242) and sophomore Anoop Shah was 42nd (262).
