LAKEWOOD, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's golf team placed seventh out of 10 schools at the Monmouth Hawk Invitational, held Sunday and Monday at Eagle Ridge Golf Club.
Senior Dave Rahal finished in a tie for eighth in the field of 50 golfers to pace the Leopards with a +7 (149) on the par-71, 6,525-yard course.
Lafayette finished with a team score of 630, just nine shots off a tie for fourth, and 17 strokes clear of the two teams which tied for eighth. The Leopards carded a 318 on Sunday and then went six strokes lower with a 312 on Monday.
Senior Billy Simmermacher put together a 79-77 to finish in a tie for 20th. Junior Brandon Mitchel and sophomore Anoop Shah shot a 162 and 163, respectively. Pat Gallagher's 81 on Monday gave him a 170 for the tournament.
Sacred Heart claimed the top three golfers, including medalist Adam Petrasovic (68-70), to win the invitational by 18 strokes.
