ANNAPOLIS, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - Snow at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course forced the cancellation of the final round of the Navy Spring Invitational on Sunday, giving St. Bonaventure a one stroke victory over Longwood in the 18-hole event.
Lafayette tied Rutgers for 24th in the closely bunched field of 25 teams. St. Bonaventure won with a score of 300 (+16), while the Leopards and Scarlet Knights were 27 shots back at +43. Kyle Morris of Seton Hall paced the field by three shots to win medalist honors with a three-under par 69.
Senior Billy Simmermacher carded the low round for the Leopards with a 79. Dave Rahal was a shot back at 80, while Anoop Shah and Matt Ehrlich came home with matching 84's and Brandon Mitchel shot an 89.
The Leopards will play at the St. Peter's Peacock Invitational at Heron Glen on Tuesday before hosting the Lafayette Invitational at Center Valley next weekend.
