Lafayette finished play at the ECAC Open Sunday, placing fifth with eight points. The Leopards competed against 40 other individuals and 10 doubles teams. Senior Brett Kraft and sophomore Eric Wiley won the silver in doubles.
In doubles, Kraft and Wiley defeated Jon Dorin and Jeremy Goldberg, the duo from Oneonta, 6-2, 6-1. The co-captains were victorious over Colgate's Michael Shea and Sam Jacobson Sunday morning winning 6-2, 5-4. The Lafayette pair continue on to the championship match against Glen Gannon and Balazs Szikla from Fairfield. Kraft and Wiley fell, 6-2, 6-5, earning silver.
Sophomore Matt McGranaghan opened the competition with a, 6-3, 6-3, loss to Austin Lungacre from Delaware. McGranaghan continued Sunday morning against Oneonta's Matt Steinhauser. The Pennington, N.J. native won his consolation match by forfeit against Oneonta's Matt Steinhauser.
In the second flight, junior Lee Kojanis lost a hard fought battle to Delaware's Nolan Greenburg, 7-5, 6-7 (1), 6-1. He was triumphant over Robert Ferrate of Fairfield, 6-2, 6-4.
Sophomore James Murphy soundly defeated Keith Feinman from Moravian, winning 6-0, 6-0. Earlier in the Open, the Simsbury, Connecticut native lost, 7-6 (4), 6-0, to Sam Barrer from Delaware in the second flight.
The men's season continues this weekend with two non-conference match-ups. On Friday, the Leopards travel to Rider for a 3 p.m. match. The team returns home on Sunday to face St. Francis (Pa.) at 3 p.m.
