EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette looked sharp in its final non-conference volleyball match of the season, defeating St. Francis (N.Y.) 3-0 on Wednesday night. The win was the Leopards' third straight and 11th of the season.
Sophomore Kayly Elmer led both squads with 13 kills and had a team-high seven digs. Senior Megan Carter and junior Ashton Rossi had double-digit assist totals with 18 and 10, respectively.
Lafayette won 25-10, 25-9 and 25-14 decisions to improve to 11-15 on the season. The Terriers fall to 0-28 this fall.
The Leopards won the first set on an Elmer service ace after leading from start to finish. Freshman Mary Cunning gave her team a victory in the second set with a kill, one of three on the night for the rookie. The match ended on another Elmer kill in the third and final set.
Lafayette begins its final homestand of the season on Friday with a 7 p.m. Patriot League match against Navy. It is also Kids' Night and the Leopard is scheduled to make an appearance and will sign autographs for fans. Pizza will be provided before the start of the match and fans will have a chance to win prizes during the serving promotion between sets two and three. Admission is free.
The homestand concludes on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match against American. The team's three seniors will be honored prior to the start of the match.
