EASTON, Pa. - Sophomore epee Banks Clark went 8-6 at the MACFA Championships, held at West Point, N.Y. on Feb. 24. His performance earned him a bid to the NCAA Regional tournament at Drew University on Saturday.
Clark was selected as the team's lead epee for the championships. He competed against top epee fencers in the weapon from 14 other institutions including Johns Hopkins, Haverford and Virginia Tech. Others representing the Leopards in epee were junior John Christian and senior Kristen Irace.
Senior Mike Zboray served as the top foil for Lafayette, with sophomores Alexander Struck and Sneha Shah competing in the second and third slots. Team captain Luigi Camilleri fenced the top spot in sabre alongside sophomore Andy Barnousky and senior Kimberly Ferguson. Barnousky had a particularly strong showing, winning five bouts in the second spot for the Leopards.
Lafayette wrapped up the day with a 13th place finish. Clark will be the sole representative from Lafayette at the NCAA Regional tournament on Saturday.
