LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lafayette golf team finished just one stroke off first place at the Hawk Invitational on Sunday held at Monmouth University.
Lafayette held a narrow one-stroke lead over Sacred Heart to pace the 12 teams after the first day of competition on Saturday. Though the Leopards improved their first round score by 11 strokes on Sunday, they finished second to the Pioneers with an overall score of 591 (15-over-par).
Freshman Rob Robertson finished one stroke behind second place with a 2-over-par 146 to lead four Leopards to top-10 finishes.
Sophomore Erik Adolfsson moved up three spots in the standings on day two with his 1-under-par 71 to place fourth overall with a 147 (3-over par).
Sophomore Tyler Ostrovsky and freshman Michael Curcio tied for seventh with a 5-over-par 149. Curcio's 1-under-par 71 on Sunday helped him jump eight spots for the top-10 finish.
Freshman Chip Culp improved his first round score by 10 strokes and posted a 14-over-par 158.
The Leopards host their only invitational of the season this weekend beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday.
