ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Lafayette men's golf team finished second in the Lehigh Valley Cup on Wednesday. The Leopards' combined score of 388 trailed five strokes behind first place.
Sophomore Tyler Ostrovsky led the Leopards with the third lowest round of the match, a 3-over-par 73. Senior Steven Melnic chipped in a 76 to tie for fifth place overall.
Cody Sumpter (78), Carter Rufe (79), Michael Curcio (82), Clay Solomon (84) and Chip Culp (91) also competed in the four-team field.
The Leopards travel to West Point, N.Y., on Friday for the Patriot League Championship.Golfers will start to tee off at 8 a.m. on both days. West Point Golf Course is a par-70 with a par-35 on both the front and back nine.
Six golfers will compete for each team, with the low four scores in each round used for team scoring. The winner of the event receives an automatic bid to one of the three NCAA Regionals, held on the weekend of May 14-16.
