The Lafayette golf team wrapped up its first appearance at the NCAA East Regional in New Haven, Conn. on Saturday afternoon. At the conclusion of the three-day tournament the Leopards finished in 14th with a total of 900 (307, 297, 296).
Kent State and Texas tied for the top spot while UCLA, Penn State and Virginia also advanced to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships in that order after the final round of the three-day NCAA Regional hosted by Yale University and The Course at Yale. Those five teams join 25 others from five other regionals at the June 1-6 NCAA Championships at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Patriot League Player of the Year, Rob Robertson, led the way for Lafayette finishing tied for 41st overall shooting a 215 (74, 72, 69). On the final day Robertson shot under-par for the second time this season.
Carter Rufe tied for 63rd with a 226 (79, 73, 74) while Tyler Ostrovsky finished with 232 (75, 79, 78). Erik Adolfsson (234) and Josh Edelson (235) finished 72nd and 73rd respectively.
This season marks the first time Lafayette has won a Patriot League Title and made it to the NCAA Tournament under Patriot League Coach of the Year Jim Hutnik.
