Leopards Fall to Hawks 3-0

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Lafayette women's soccer team kicked off its weekend against Monmouth on Friday afternoon in West Long Branch, N.J. The Leopards fell to the Hawks 3-0 to slip under .500.

Lafayette (4-5-0) was outshot by Monmouth 16-2 while sophomore Lauren Smedley made eight saves in the loss and the Hawks Lia Fierro made the lone save on the Leopards only shot-on-goal.

Just two minutes into the game, Monmouth's (5-3-0) Kim Malecki scored on a defensive steal to the net. The Hawks were able to get off another two goals in the second half to seal a 3-0 win.

The Leopards come home to host St. Peter's on Sunday at noon at Oaks Stadium. Players and coaches will be wearing pink at Sunday's match-up to show their commitment to breast cancer awareness.
