SJU Invitational Main Draw FINAL 
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Student-athletes from Saint Joseph's, Army, Delaware, Drexel, Lafayette, Monmouth, Penn, Temple, UMBC, and Villanova competed in four singles flights and two doubles flights at the St. Joseph's Fall Invitational over the weekend. At the end of the weekend Lafayette had beaten at least one player from each of the nine schools.
Justin Haar and Doug Gallagher competed in the first flight for the Leopards, both advancing to the second round. Haar defeated Temple's Andrey Morozov 1-6, 7-6 (4), 10-8 to advance to the second round but fell to Delaware's Courtney Scott 6-0, 6-4. Gallagher picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Villanova's Trenton Alenik but dropped a hard fought battle to St. Joe's Alex Veronis (6-4, 4-6, 10-2).
In the second flight of singles, Kyle MacLelland fell to Villanova's Ryan Payton 6-3, 6-0 while Scott Gelbman defeated Ian Terpilowski from Monmouth 6-3, 6-3 to advance. Gelbman then defeated St. Joe's Peter Cognetti 6-1, 7-5 lost to Kacpar Rams from Temple (6-1, 6-2).
Will Mercorella and Sinan Ipeker competed in singles flight three over the weekend. Mercorella advanced to the second round after beating Temple's Kurt Mauro 6-4, 6-2. He dropped his next match against Delaware's Jeganathan Srinivasan 6-3, 6-4.
In singles flight four, Matt Shapiro defeated UMBC's Shane Yap (6-2, 6-1) and Delaware's Paul Stauskas (6-1, 6-1) before falling to Temple's Luv Sodha 6-2, 6-1.
Haar and Mercorell paired up for first flight doubles and were defeated by UMBC's Mwalimu Phiri and Joseph Adewumi (8-3) while Gelbman and Andrew Morris posted a victory against Penn's Dmitry Bury and Army's Evan Kowalski (9-8 (2)) but dropped to Villanova's Alenik and Thomas O'Brien (8-1).
In flight two of doubles, Ipeker and Matt Shapiro fell to Temple's Kurt Mauro and Sodha (8-6) while doubles pair Gallagher and MacLelland made it to the finals beating Delaware's Jeff Marshall and Nick Piacente (8-6), St. Joe's Tommy Gates and Paranjay Malhotra (8-3) and fell to overall winners Ryan Kent and Robby Kay of Delware, 9-7.
Lafayette travels to Staten Island to take on Wagner Wednesday at 3 p.m.
