BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Carter Rufe's two-over par effort helped the Lafayette golf team claim the 2012 Lehigh Valley Collegiate Cup over Lehigh, Moravian and Muhlenberg on Tuesday afternoon at Saucon Valley Country Club.
As a team, the Leopards combined to shoot 371 on the afternoon, four shots ahead of Lehigh's top five golfers. Moravian carded a 390, while Muhlenberg finished the round with a 417.
Rufe's 73 gave him the top spot among the 27 competitors, while Rob Robertson and Mike Zausmer tied for second, one stroke behind Rufe.
Rounding out the scorers for Lafayette were Peter Gross and David Kafafian, who each turned in rounds of 75 and tied for seventh. Phil Rosengarden (79) tied for 13th and Josh Feinberg (86) ranked 23rd among individuals.
The Lehigh Valley Cup was Lafayette's final test before this weekend's Patriot League Championship, beginning on Saturday in Lewisburg, Pa. at the Bucknell Golf Course.
