Class: 2014
Major: Government & Law

I. Academics

What do you enjoy about your major?
I enjoy Government & Law because it explains the interactions of people with their government, and how different forms of government are run and how that ultimately has an effect on the governed. I find it very interesting to see how much government has evolved throughout its existence and how it has had an impact on the world, while also looking at today's issues, both domestic and global, to see where we are going in the future.

One class/professor that every Lafayette student should try to take is…
Although I only have been able to take his introductory level U.S. Politics course, Professor Bruce Murphy has been one of the most interesting and informative professors that I've had on campus. He was always able to engage students during lecture and keep the class discussions and topics interesting, which is why I plan to take many more of his courses as I progress with my Government & Law major.

What are your post graduation plans?
After graduation, I plan to continue to work with and expand my recently formed nonprofit organization called Athletes C.A.R.E. which was created to benefit the homeless and needy, while hopefully moving on to graduate school to pursue a degree in law.

II. Athletics

How has playing with high school teammates (Stephen Macurdy '11, Luke Calvano '12 and Blake Fink '13) helped you at Lafayette?
Having the opportunity to play with these three individuals in high school was a big reason why I ended up at Lafayette myself. I had the ability to have all of my questions answered about Lafayette, both academically and athletically, and they were all great salesmen when it came to pitching Lafayette to me throughout the recruiting process. Their presence as role models definitely allowed me to transition much easier to college, and it gave me a lot of comfort on the field playing with players I had played with for years already.

How would you define your role on the team (on and off the field)?
As a junior midfielder, I am an individual that is looked at to bring energy, focus, and leadership each and every day to the field. It is my role to possess the ball and help build the attack and create goal scoring opportunities, while also being committed to my defensive responsibilities as well. Off the field, similar to on the field, I feel like my role is to be a leader and a role model for the younger guys, and when it comes to jokes, I'm there to provide the proper movie quote.

What goals has the team set for 2012 and how does it plan on achieving those goals?
Our goal this year, just like every year, is to win a Patriot League Championship, but to get to that point, we started last winter and have taken it each day, trying to get better as individuals and as a team. Our outlook is to get better every single day and keep improving, and with that in mind, and with the type of chemistry this team has, we feel like we can win a lot of games with this group, provided we all bring the proper focus and work ethic each and every day.

Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?
Before each game I read a prayer card that was made in memory of my Grandfather, one of my biggest fans.

III. Personal

What is your favorite sport other than soccer?
Hockey, hands down. But not just any type of hockey...Flyers hockey.

What television show have you seen every episode of?
Workaholics. I'm a big fan of comedy.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I've been to England twice before, but if I had the chance, I'd definitely go again. Perfect place for a soccer fan.

What song/band/album is most likely to be playing on your iPod?
I'd have to say Sweet Honey by Slightly Stoopid. It just never gets old.
