Lafayette's golf team squeezed in an extra round on the site of the Patriot League Championship in two weeks and five Leopards shot in the 70s. Lafayette will compete in the Navy Invitational on April 20-21 at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md. before competing in the Patriot League Championships on April 27-28 at Saucon Valley Country Club's Grace Course in Bethlehem, Pa.
Mike Zausmer and Patrick Luther each carded a 77 while Phil Rosengarden, David Kafafian and Doug Fernandez each fired a 78. Travis Ricca recorded an 81 while Peter Gross also had an 84 to round out Lafayette's scores.
The Leopards defeated Lehigh in October in the President's Cup at Hamilton Farm Country Club in Gladstone, N.J. but the Mountain Hawks got a bit of revenge today, defending their home course in a stroke play match in which the top four scores of seven players counted as the team score.
Lafayette totaled 310 while Lehigh recorded a 306 to edge the Leopards.
