PHILADELPHIA - The Leopards beat La Salle Saturday, 25-22, 25-21, 19-25 and 25-18 in their second match of the La Salle Invitational.

Lafayette was led by senior Karissa Ciliento, who finished the match with a team-high 18 kills. Junior Michelle Woodworth came up with 11 digs and four aces, while junior Danielle Towslee finished with 11 kills.

The Leopards got off to a quick start in the first game taking a 4-0 lead on kills from Ciliento and freshman Jet Manzi. Lafayette held off multiple La Salle runs, but never surrendered the lead in the game. Ciliento led the Maroon and White with eight kills, while senior Molly Belcher handed out 12 assists.

The Leopards picked up where they left off after the first game, as Brianne Giangiobbe had a pair of kills to help build a 7-3 lead. The Explorers clawed back into the game and took their first lead at 11-10.

The teams exchanged points until Lafayette went on a 4-1 run to regain a 21-18 lead on a service ace from Melanie Weiss and a kill from Towslee. Consecutive kills from Manzi and Belcher put the Explorers away in the second set, 25-21.

Once again the Maroon and White came out firing, taking a 5-2 lead in the third game on kills by Ciliento, Belcher and Manzi. The Explorers made a run of their own to take the lead, 7-6. Then, the Leopards tied the game at 11 on a Ciliento kill, but La Salle used a 10-3 run to take a commanding lead and eventually the game, 25-19.

In the decisive game four, Lafayette and La Salle went back and forth until the Leopards went on a 4-0 run to gain a 17-13 advantage. Three kills from Towslee, Katy Rooney and Manzi forced a La Salle timeout with the Leopards ahead 22-18. An ace from freshman Samantha Volk and another kill from Ciliento downed the Explorers 25-18.

La Salle was led by Kelly Perillo's 13 kills, followed by Laura Kuhlmeier's 11 kills and 22 digs.

The Maroon and White return to action tomorrow against Farleigh Dickinson in the La Salle Tournament at 11 a.m.
