I was on the 1981 Lafayette team that faced the high powered Lehigh offense which was averaging 35 points a game and ranked in the top ten. On the second play of the game, Ed Godbolt, Lehigh's star running back, was handed the ball on a play up the middle when both Tony Green and I "SQUISHED" him. Tony hit him low and I crushed him as he was squirming for extra yardage. It was reported later that Lehigh's Coach Whitehead asked Godbolt if his allergies were affecting him due to his glassy eyes and dazed expression on his face when he returned to the sidelines. Godbolt replied "I think I'm allergic to Green and Skladany." Lafayette ended up winning the game "10-3" and finished the season with the #2 ranked scoring defense in the country due to the genius of Defensive Coordinator Joe Sara.
