Fencing Travels to Vassar Invitational

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Lafayette College fencing team traveled to the Vassar College for the Vassar Invitational on Sunday. The men went 3-4 on the day while the women were 2-4.

The men's team beat West Point, 21-7, Hunter, 20-7, and Yeshiva, 19-8. The men's sabre also won their bout with Haverford, 5-4. Agaisnt West Point, Alex Gorloff led the way with three wins in the sabre. In the bout against Hunter, Brandon Smith, Phillip Manna and Josh Kwak each posted three wins in the foil, and against Yeshiva, Daniel Robitzski had three wins in the epee and Gorloff had three wins in the sabre.

The women beat West Point, 16-11, and Hunter, 16-11. The Leopards combination of Colleen Way, Julia Sheng and Andria Mitchell won all nine bouts against West Point in the foil. Against Hunter, Way, Sheng and Mitchell all picked up two wins in the foil, while Haley Mauriello posted three wins in the epee.

The fencing team is back in action on this weekend at the MACFA Haverford Invitational.
