Baltimore, Md. - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team fell at No. 2 Loyola in Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon. Brendan Dunlap scored a pair of goals for the Leopards in the loss.
Loyola (8-1, 4-0 PL) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter before Robert Orazietti found the back of the net for the Leopards (1-6, 1-4). Orazietti took a feed from Sonny Round midway through the period and fired past the Loyola goalie.
Dunlap got in the scoring column with his first goal of the season later in the first on another pass from Round to make it a 5-2 game. Loyola took control of the game in the second quarter as the Greyhounds built a 13-2 lead at the break.
The Leopards scored a pair of goals in the third quarter, as Brian Bock was able to fire a shot past the Loyola's goalie at the 4:55 mark of the period. Dunlap tallied his second of the afternoon with four seconds left in the third, as the Greyhounds controlled the rest of the way and went on to win 21-4.
Jake Hyatt made six saves in 30 minutes of action, while Matthew Cortese and Ben Falcone made four and two saves, respectively, in 15 minutes of work. Mac Ahsler led the defense with a pair of caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Lafayette is back in action Friday night when the Leopards host Mercer at 7:30 p.m.
