Leopards Tie for 15th at Navy Invitational

Final Results

Lafayette's golf team finished in a tie for 15th place at the 2014 Navy Spring Invitational led by junior Kirk Massie's 13th-place finish with a one-over 72 in the final round on the 6,528-yard, par-71 Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md. Massie finished the tournament at six-over 148 (76-72).

Towson won the team title by eight strokes over host Navy, recording a 16-over 584 to Navy's 592. St. Francis-PA finished third at 596 while Cornell was fourth at 601 and St. Joseph's rounded out the top five at 602. Other Patriot League foes in the field included Bucknell (12th - 614), Colgate (13th - 615) and Lehigh (DNF). Lafayette tied for 15th with Delaware at 621.

Towson's Joe Gunerman defended his individual title with a two-day total of three-under 139 (70-69).

Lafayette's other team scores included Jared Mactas (T48; 78-77--155), Phil Rosengarden (T65; 80-78--155), Mike Zausmer (T69; 79-81--160) and Robert Dyer (T80; 81-81--162).

The Leopards face Lehigh on Tuesday in a dual match before competing in the Patriot League Championship at Army Friday through Sunday.
