Lafayette freshman Art Griffin displayed tremendous grit in just his second college event, earning medalist honors at the Bucknell Fall Invitational by one stroke over Pierre Alexandre Bedard of Laval University. Griffin finished at three-under 207, firing one-over 71 in both the first and final rounds and a tournament-low 65 in the second round. Griffin led the Leopards to a second-place team finish, two strokes behind Dartmouth.
Lafayette's Jared Mactas continued his hot play by finishing in a tie for 17th at 16-over 226 with rounds of 79, 74 and 73.
Dartmouth had three players in the top 13, led by Scott Jaster who finished third overall at eight-over (71-74-73--218).
The Patriot League was well represented at the event as Colgate finished fifth, 13 strokes behind Lafayette, and Bucknell finished in a tie for sixth, 18 strokes behind the Leopards.
Lafayette's other team scores included Patrick Luther (26th; 81-74-75--230), co-captain Robert Dyer (T27th; 78-77-76--231) and co-captain Mike Zausmer (T44th; 80-82-78--240).
The Leopards will compete in the Rutgers Invitational in a three-day event that starts this Thursday.
