Easton, Pa. - The Leopards fell to visiting Navy, 3-0, in Patriot League volleyball action on Friday night. Lafayette was led by Jet Manzi and Katy Rooney with six kills apiece. Manzi also had a match-high six aces for the Leopards.

Freshman Elizabeth Walsh finished with five kills, while Lafayette (3-10, 02- PL) received three kills from both Danielle Towslee and Kelly Flynn. Lauren Pisauro had a team-high 11 digs and Tori Smoith handed out 12 assists. For Navy (4-6, 1-0 PL) Alex Cassel had a match-high eight kills, while Star Steele had 22 assists.

Manzi started the match with a pair of aces, followed by kills from Towslee and Walsh to open up a 4-0 lead. Back-to-back kills from Rooney and Walsh pushed the Lafayette advantage to 7-2, but an 8-4 run from the Mids trimmed the deficit to one, 11-10. With the match tied at 14, Navy used a 7-1 spurt to take a 21-15 lead and went on to close out the set, 25-21.

The Leopards opened the second set with a block assist from Rooney and Towslee, but the Mids quickly pushed ahead, 12-6. A solo block from Smith cut the lead to five, 13-8, but Navy stopped the run and won the second set, 25-12.

Another ace from Manzi to start the third set helped the Leopards to an early 7-2 advantage. Kills from Towslee, Manzi, Walsh and Flynn highlighted the rest of the spurt. Navy was able to put together an 8-4 run to get back into the set. Trailing 17-14, Rooney came up with a block to pull Lafayette within two, but that was as close as the Leopards would get, as Navy took the third set, 25-18 and the match, 3-0.

Lafayette is back in action on Sept. 27 at American and Sept. 28 at Loyola.
