Seattle, Wash. - The Lafayette volleyball team fell to Pacific in its final game of the Seattle University Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Leopards were led by Jet Manzi's team-high six kills.
Lafayette moved to 1-6, while Pacific moved to 4-2 on the season. Tori Smith paced the Leopard attack with 10 assists and also led the squad with seven digs. Lexi Elman had a match-high 17 kills for Pacific, while Andie Shelton handed out a match-best 35 assists.
The Maroon and White found themselves down early in the opening set as Pacific opened the match on a 10-2 run. The Tigers maintained their advantage and took the first set 25-9. Manzi led the Leopards with a pair of kills, while Elizabeth Walsh and Katie Kidder each chipped in a kill.
Pacific used another run earlier in the next set to take the lead and went on to take the second set 25-8. Brianne Giangiobbe, Danielle Towslee and Manzi all had kills for the Leopards in the second set.
Another early spurt from the Tigers pushed their lead to nine to start the third set. The Leopards fought back to pull within five on back-to-back kills from Smith and Sarah Moult were followed by an ace from Katherine Stevens. That was as close as Lafayette would get, as Pacific went on to take the third set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
The Leopards are back in action with their home opener on Wednesday night against St. Francis Brooklyn.
